Cutting-Edge Technology From Versa Wave Technologies

Dr. Hartman’s office now offers cutting-edge technology with Laser Dentistry using the latest equipment from Versa Wave Technologies. The laser works by using energized water droplets that allow staff to gently and precisely work on dental procedures with no pain or heat. The laser dental system helps sterilize as it cuts, leaving less chance for bacteria contamination. It prepares teeth for maximum bonding of tooth colored enamel with absolutely NO anesthesia.

Advantages to Laser Dentistry Include:

  • Ability to place many fillings without local anesthesia
  • No high-pitched whine or vibration from the grinding of a drill
  • Sterilization of the tooth as it removes decay and reduction of recurrent decay under old fillings
  • More effective sealants because the laser removes any debris which can cause decay from the pits and grooves of the biting surfaces
  • More effective non-surgical gum treatment because lasers can sterilize pockets painlessly.
  • Treatment of canker sores and cold sores
  • More effective surgical procedures because there is no bleeding and the surgical field is sterilized by the laser
  • No numb lip after patient leaves the dental office
  • Desensitization of teeth

Our office has been highly trained on this new procedure and welcome patients to experience the benefits of laser dentistry. Please call our office for an appointment.

Smiles for Life Team attends IAOMT conference!

March 18, 19 and 20 2010, the Smiles for Life dental team traveled to Galloway, New Jersey to attend the spring conference of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology. The IAOMT is a network of dental, medical and research professionals who seek to raise the standards of scientific verification of biocompatibility in the dental practice with information from the latest interdisciplinary research. At Smiles for Life Total Health Dentistry, we feel it is a necessity for our entire team to be educated and updated on the newest information available on biological dentistry.  Dr. Hartman is an accredited member of the IAOMT.

Together we learned about a variety of aspects pertaining to biological dentistry. On day one, the team spent the day updating our knowledge about biological dentistry as a whole.  Some of the topics included the role of mercury in the body, why fluoride is unhealthy for the body and the advantages of using a phase contrast microscope.

On day two, we heard from a variety of speakers who touched on topics such as: dental health’s whole body connection, three dimensional CAT scan screening benefits and dental treatments for Touretts Syndrome. Then, we each attended break out sessions and learned about areas including: the medical and dental etiology of cardiac disease and diabetes from the periodontal perspective, biocompatible dentistry, defending your family in a toxic world and the role of vitamin D in the dentist’s office.

On the final day we learned about the role of vaccinations in chronic disease, heavy metals and oxidative stress and how if affects health, biodetox, and an autism treatment update to be used in clinics. To learn more about IAOMT, please visit www.iaomt.org.

Each day our team gathered for lunch and discussed our opinions and asked questions of each other on the subjects that we had learned about. Our evenings were spent enjoying each others company with a walk on the board walk and great discussions over dinner. While we all learned and were updated on biological dentistry, our trip also allowed us to spent time with each other outside of the work place. This enables us to know each other better and in turn work together as a team of caring individuals who not only care for our patients, but each other as well.
